A brief story on Tibetan Welfare Office, Mandi
Introduction:
Tashiling Tibetan settlement is located in Himachal Pradesh state of north India.This settlement was established in the year 1965. Initially the people at this settlement were engaged with Beas Sutley link Dam project construction but now most of them were retired and some are nearing retirement.
Settlement location:
This settlement is situated at Pandoh and it is 15 km away from District Mandi of Himachal Pradesh.The altitude of the area is of 2925 feet above sea level with average temperature from 20° to 40°Celsius, while annual rainfall is 120 cm.

Administrative setup:
CTA Representative
Tashiling Tibetan settlement office at Pandoh is the representative
office of Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration. The
settlement offices serves as the liaison between the Tibetans in the
region and the Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration.
It is also the principal office to look after welfare and overall
running of affairs of the Tibetans in the settlement under the policy
and guidance of CTA. Daily tasks for the representative ranges from
adjudicating disputes to communicating with Local Assembly and
outside authorities,and generally watching over the running of
all aspects of the settlement.
Local Assemblies
Like every other genuine democratic system, the Tibetans in Pandoh
elect their own representative for better understanding of the
problems with them.Actual term of the Assemly is five years and the
local Assembly hold session twice in year with settlerment officer.
During the session they can bring up the problems of the settlers
and raise the question on the working of the settlement officer.
These members are elected on the basis of their strength of personality
and once ability to stand before the interest of their people.
