Delegation of the Assembly of Tibetan People's Deputies on tour across Europe

News filed by Coordination office, Brussels: This morning a delegation of 11 members of the Assembly of Tibetan People's Deputies (ATPD) from Dharamsala arrived in Brussels. The 11-day visit across Europe – study tour – has been organized by the Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Centre (TPPRC), a unit of ATPD based in New Delhi.

The visit to Brussels from 18-20 October is jointly hosted by Bureau du Tibet (EU Coordination Office) and International Campaign for Tibet (ICT)-Europe.

On 20 October, the delegation will leave for South Tirol for two days, followed by visits to London and Edinburgh till 28 October.

This afternoon the delegation had a meaningful and hectic schedule in the Belgian Parliament. After a lunch in the Parliament hosted by Bureau du Tibet, Walter Muls, President of Inter-Parliamentary Group for Tibet, gave a briefing on the Belgian federal structure, followed by a tour of the Parliament and concluding with a meeting with 5 members of the Inter-Parliamentary Group for Tibet and 3 staff. Geert Lambert, the Vice-President of the Chamber, was also present.

There will be meetings with the Tibetan community, members of the European Parliament (EP) Tibet Inter-group, Ingo Friedrich, Vice-President of the EP and will go on an educational tour of the European Union.

The delegation is accompanied by the representative Tashi Phuntsok, Tsering Jampa, Director, ICT-Europe and Tenzin Wangmo Dunchu, Coordinator, EU Coordination Office, Brussels.
